A hologram asks your buyer to judge shine by eye. A secure QR code gives them a yes or no, and gives you a record of where it happened. Many brands use both.

When a hologram still makes sense

A hologram signals “this brand cares” at a glance, before anyone takes a phone out. If your buyers expect one, keep it. Adding a QR code next to it gives the hologram something it never had: a way to prove it.

When the QR code does the work

If your problem is copies in specific markets, dealers mixing fake stock with real, or warranty claims on products you never sold, you need data, and only the per-unit code produces it. A hologram can't tell you that 40 boxes with the same serial were scanned in three cities.

Is a QR code better than a hologram sticker?

For proving a product is genuine, yes: every unit has its own code that is checked online, and the brand sees where each scan happened. A hologram is still useful as a visual cue, and many brands use both together.

Can I print the QR code on a hologram sticker?

Yes. Your label printer can combine a hologram foil with a variable-data QR code per unit. Ask your printer about variable-data printing on holographic stock.

Can a fake QR code show as genuine?

A made-up code shows a counterfeit alert. A photocopy of a real code shows a rising scan count and an already-used warranty or coupon, and it appears as a repeat scan in the brand's dashboard.
